June 3, 2026- Ascension announced that it has received approval from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to move forward with the acquisition of AMSURG’s ambulatory surgery center (ASC) business. This regulatory milestone is a significant step toward an expected official closing in the near future.
This acquisition will add more than 250 centers to the hospital system, significantly expanding its ability to deliver compassionate, high-quality care in community-based settings and furthering our journey to transform healthcare delivery. Over the past several years, Ascension has been intentionally building a broader outpatient platform. This transaction meaningfully strengthens and accelerates the ability for the health system to “serve patients in more convenient, lower-cost sites of care while keeping our hospitals focused on complex and high-acuity needs,” according to a recent press release.
