March 9, 2023 – Atrium Health and Best Buy are partnering to bring the technology and exceptional healthcare services of the hospital to home care. Through this collaboration, the companies said they aim to amplify their strengths in the technology and health industry to enhance patient experience. “Patients at home will experience care in comfort, away from the hospital, with reduced emotional and financial burdens on them and their caregivers,” the companies said in a release.
The partnership will “change the lives of our patients and consumers, giving them access to the tools and experiences they need to receive care in the comfort of their own homes,” according to Dr. Rasu Shrestha of Advocate Health, of which Atrium Health is a part of.
“Atrium Health’s extensive clinical expertise will help us improve and enable care in the home for everyone.” said Deborah Di Sanzo, president of Best Buy Health. “We’re excited to leverage our expertise in omnichannel and supply chain,” said Di Sanzo, “to connect patients and providers through Current Health’s at home platform.”
Atrium Health launched the hospital at home program amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The program allowed patients to receive care in their own homes in response to pandemic related hospital surges. They’ve since expanded the program to care for patients at home with cardiac conditions, pneumonia, asthma, COPD, and other infections and post-operative conditions.
Best Buy’s program Current Health was also developed in 2021 post-pandemic, and incorporates remote patient monitoring, telehealth, and patient engagement all into one to be utilized by healthcare providers.
