Dedicated to Our Industry
What do the inductees into the Medical Distribution Hall of Fame have in common? They were bigger than themselves, or their companies. They went over and above not just for their customers, but for the industry and their communities.
This year we decided to go with a theme of national account executives that call on distribution. This year’s inductees have more than 120 years of experience calling on distribution. Anyone reading this issue that has ever sold a GOJO product, placed a Welch Allyn wall unit, or set up a practice outfitted by Midmark owe these three gentlemen a huge thank you. When you think about the amount of commerce these three have pushed/pulled through distribution the past 40 years, it is staggering!
Mike Carver (AKA, the first political questioner at a HIDA executive conference) with GOJO is charismatic and larger than life. This year’s donation from the Hall of Fame dinner will go to FISH, which is an all-volunteer organization that feeds 8,000 families a month. Mike has spent countless hours volunteering with them.
Tony Melaro (AKA, Dr. Ben) with Welch Allyn created a character that set Welch Allyn on a different playing field from the rest of us at national sales meetings. On a personal note, Tony — without ever meeting me — helped me create a job description that launched my career with Sempermed. I will be forever grateful to you Tony!
Dick Moorman (AKA, the Dancing Machine) with Midmark. When we announced these individuals this year my e-mail and phone lit up with comments about him. Past reps and present sent in comments like “there is no better choice in our industry than Dick Moorman” and “please let me know the cost of the dinner because I wouldn’t miss seeing such an individual accept this honor.” He is an old school, class act, that has provided his organization and our industry far more than he has ever taken. My tag line used to say “dedicated to distribution.” Dick pulled me aside at a meeting, and in only the way he can, said “I love your pub letter, but we all make up Repertoire, not just distribution, we are a family.” It now reads “dedicated to our industry.” Thank you, sir!
Please take the time to read the stories of these three amazing human beings!

PS: We cannot wait to induct these three individual at our dinner in Chicago on April 6th.
