October 30, 2024- Walgreens is expanding its virtual healthcare service to reach more patients across the nation. As of Oct. 1, Walgreens Virtual Healthcare is available in 30 states, up from its initial launch in nine states. This expansion aims to increase access to fast, reliable and affordable healthcare from the comfort of home by allowing patients to connect with doctors and nurse practitioners via virtual consultations, either through chat or video.
Additionally, Walgreens will introduce new lab services for wellness screenings and STD treatment, including conditions such as chlamydia and trichomoniasis, beginning Nov. 1. Wellness screenings provide consumers with a snapshot of certain health markers, such as cholesterol, triglycerides and hemoglobin A1C, that can help inform the diagnosis of certain chronic conditions such as pre-diabetes or diabetes.
