Data from the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) has shown several Tampa Bay ICUs at low or zero capacity, and hospitals and healthcare systems in the region say plans are in place to handle a surge if needed. Ten ICUs across Tampa Bay were listed as having zero capacity on Florida’s AHCA dashboard. The Florida Hospital Association says most hospitals have plans to handle surge capacity. BayCare, one of the region’s largest health systems, is seeing a range of capacity on Florida’s AHCA dashboard, from 71% at Bartow Regional Medical Center (Bartow, FL) to 3.5% at St. Joseph’s Hospital – South (Riverview, FL).
