January 9, 2026- The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center has announced a new strategic collaboration with SOPHiA GENETICS aimed at advancing artificial intelligence–driven precision oncology. The partnership brings together one of the world’s leading cancer centers with a global AI healthcare technology company to improve how complex molecular and genomic data are translated into clinical insights.
At the core of the collaboration is the integration of SOPHiA GENETICS’ AI-powered analytics platform with MD Anderson’s deep clinical, translational, and research expertise. By combining these strengths, the organizations aim to enhance cancer diagnostics, enable more precise treatment decisions, and accelerate research across multiple tumor types.
A key component of the agreement includes the co-development of a next-generation sequencing (NGS) oncology test powered by SOPHiA GENETICS’ algorithms. In parallel, the collaboration will support several joint research initiatives focused on improving genomic test reproducibility, tracking tumor evolution in real time, and better matching patients to clinical trials and research opportunities.
The partnership reflects a broader trend in oncology toward leveraging advanced data analytics and AI to manage the growing volume and complexity of genomic information. As cancer care becomes increasingly personalized, the ability to quickly and accurately interpret molecular data is essential for identifying targeted therapies and improving patient outcomes.
