Repertoire Magazine podcast flashback: In 2023, during a highly televised NFL game, Damar Hamlin, a professional football player, experienced commotio cordis — a rare, life-threatening condition that occurs when a blow to the chest disrupts the heart’s rhythm and leads to sudden cardiac arrest. At that moment, Hamlin was considered clinically deceased because he wasn’t breathing and didn’t have a pulse.
