Medline Industries distribution facility in California destroyed by massive fire
A massive fire at a Medline Distribution Center warehouse complex in Tracy, California was burning out of control June 11, sending a huge plume of black smoke into the air, according to ABC 7 Bay Area News. The roughly 1 million square foot warehouse is still fully engulfed in flames as of Friday morning, June 12, according to the South San Joaquin County Fire Authority.
Crews responded to the Medline Industries warehouse along Promontory Parkway in Tracy around 1 p.m. Thursday, finding heavy fire coming from the roof, according to CBS News. The fire quickly extended across the roof and into the facility, and crews were not able to contain the fire before it engulfed the entire building within 30 to 40 minutes. Multiple explosions had been heard, with CBS News confirming with fire officials they came from truck tires and medical products inside the facility.
As to the cause of the fire, investigators are looking into major safety equipment failures at the scene. There have been no reports of injuries, according to ABC 7. Medline Industries confirmed that all employees and on-site personnel were accounted for as of Thursday night.
