March 20, 2025- As President Donald Trump continues to levy tariffs against Mexico, Canada and the European Union, countries are retaliating, placing in-kind tariff restrictions back on the U.S., according to Becker’s ASC Review. A few key states are expected to be hit the hardest by tariffs levied by Mexico, Canada and China, while additional states stand to be hardest hit by EU tariffs, according to a March 13 report from CNBC.
An analysis of EU tariffs has determined five states that are likely to be hit hardest. Here are the five states that will be hardest hit by EU tariffs, and the percent of state goods imported from EU countries:
1. New York: 39%
2. North Dakota: 36%
3. Nebraska: 32%
4. Iowa: 26%
5. West Virginia: 26%
