February 21, 2025 – AdvaMed CEO Scott Whitaker sent a letter to the HHS calling for staff cuts at the FDA to be reversed, arguing patient care and U.S. leadership in medtech are on the line. He warned the Department of Health and Human Services that job cuts made at the FDA could have a very negative impact on patients and threaten the country’s position as the world’s medtech industry leader.
In a LinkedIn post, he wrote that significant cuts to the FDA’s staff were planned before Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was sworn into office as HHS Secretary last week and the round of cuts does not align with Kennedy’s goal of making America healthy again. He spelled out his concerns in a letter to the HHS.
